MD, PhD, FRACGP

Dr Yamuna was born and educated in Sri Lanka but received her medical degree from the Vinnitsa Medical University in the Ukraine.

She has traveled widely and speaks 3 languages – english, sinhalese and russian. After migrating to Australia in 1996 she completed a PhD in Muscle physiology attached to the Australian National University, Canberra. Hence, she has a strong interest in medical research and education. 

Dr Yamuna has worked in hospitals in Mackay and Canberra prior to commencing general practice. She has lived in Canberra for over 25 yrs and has recently moved to Brisbane. Dr Yamuna has two daughters and enjoys stand-up paddle boarding, hiking and fishkeeping during her free time.
